Power Supply Options
Firstly I want to talk about the two power options, the internal battery or the external mains power adaptor. Firstly I can highly recommend the E-Stim Systems power adaptor mainly as it is double isolated and therefore much safer than dodgy adaptors from places like eBay or Amazon. Unless you buy the official one, you will never know whether what arrives is as safe as a seller suggests.
Now for me, the internal battery packs enough power to keep my toes curling and me gasping in pleasure for multiple stim sessions but as the battery drains you do see a drop in output power. This is to be expected, of course. I do have the mains power adaptor, and I use it when stationary or using larger electrodes where the 30% power increase is welcomed. If you are driving larger electrodes, then the mains option is definitely worth considering.
Remember though that the 2B has two power settings, so you can sleect either High or Low in the options.
"With great power comes great responsibility" or something like that
I often get asked by people who have just got a 2B why it feels spikey or sometimes painful. Well, there are several reasons why your stim sessions may feel spikey or unpleasant, but the vast majority of the time it is due to not having sufficient contact between your electrodes and your skin.
Top Tip: Conductive Rubber Electrodes break down over time, causing high resistance and more of the power entering your skin near to where the plug is inserted. Feeding some copper wire or solder down inside your conductive rubber loops can extend their life and also improve their efficiency.
"Great tip about the conductive rubber degrading over time. The 6mm loop on my favourite electrode failed to register on my DVM even on the 10M range. ,Being both a cheapscate and lacking stocks of spare rubber I found that rubbing the surface of the rubber with a green ScotchBright pad left it with a new conductive surface - perhaps not quite as good as new rubber but...
Gyrator - Forum post 23rd March 2020
Anyway, it was like having the brake-pads on your car changed - all my bits flew forward at speed on first application :)
BTW - 32/0.2 wire stripped out, twisted and tinned at each end makes a really good flexible metal core for the rubber."
Consider this (crappy) analogy, imagine being a submissive who likes to be trampled by a Mistress (I told you it was a crappy analogy). Now if the Mistress is wearing wellington boots (sexy), you would feel her weight distributed over a wide area of your skin. Now imagine her in a hot pair of thigh-high 8" heeled boots. The pressure would be very uncomfortable where the tip of the heel is in contact with your skin as it is a smaller surface area of contact. I know it isn't a good analogy, but it does make a point, the e-stim energy entering your body can feel completely different if spread over a wide area as opposed to a small contact area.
So how can you ensure the sensations are spread over a large area? Well firstly try to balance the surface areas of your electrodes. otherwise, one will feel more intense than the other.
Secondly, maximise skin contact with your electrodes. Use electrogel, especially with conductive rubber cock loops as it will spread the signal and ensure good contact.
Consider shaving the area where you place electrodes, especially the self-adhesive monopole ones. Hairs are an excellent insulator and prevent good electrical contact with your skin. Make sure you don't get a shaving rash though, as you should never place electrodes on broken or sensitive skin.
The higher the power settings on the 2B, the more critical it is to have good contact with your electrodes or things will get spikey.
Top Tip: If you are using external electrodes, you can keep them moist using some watered down electrogel during your stimming session if they start to dry out.
Warm-up and experiment
The 2B is a powerhouse and if you are moving to it from a cheap TENS or other machine don't push it too far too soon.
Warming up is essential to get your body used to the sensations that the 2B can generate before increasing the power levels.
Experimentation is vital, especially during your first few stimming sessions with the 2B, don't expect too much too soon as there is a lot to learn about it, and we are all different.
On that point, don't get too disheartened if you wire yourself up following some advice you have read online (even here) only to find you don't reach an orgasm especially when you are learning to stim with the 2B.
It's like driving a car, you need to learn the controls and your style of driving. We all like different things, and what works for me or others may not work for you. That's why it is essential to keep a Stimming Diary, especially when using a new control box or electrode.
Keeping one will allow you to quickly zone in on what works best for you and equally as important what doesn't work well for you so you can avoid making mistakes you have already done before.
I can't stress enough how useful a stimming diary can be, my one will hopefully give you some inspiration to create your own, or you can use mine, of course.
Now back to warming up, take between ten and twenty minutes on a setting like PULSE or THROB and slowly turn up the power during this time.
Once warmed up, select a routine that you enjoy and go for it. Taking time to warm up will give your body and mind time to adjust to the e-stim signals. Guys don't worry if you lose your erection during this time, that is normal, and an erection isn't needed for e-stim although it does help to separate electrodes. Guys often find themselves going through erect then flaccid periods during a stimming session so remember that is normal.
If you use conductive rubber cock loops, then check out my guide to e-stim penis play article for some more detailed advice about the nerves in the penis and ways to better stimulate them.
Stimming Effectively and controlling the 2B - adjust, adjust and adjust some more
The centre knob (labelled Adjust) on the 2B is the one that causes most confusion with people new to the 2B. But, in my opinion, the most important one for achieving a HFO.
This Adjust knob allows you to tweak the routines of the 2B to your liking. Whether it be the speed of pulses or their feel, it is one that you must remember to experiment with.
In most modes, you will see something like 50:50 displayed on the top right of the screen when you have a new 2B control box. The first number is the frequency or speed of pulses with the second number being the feel. Each can be adjusted from 0 to 99, with higher values meaning faster pulses and more spikey pulses, respectively.
The speed setting is the usual one that is adjusted when you turn the Adjust Knob, but if you press and hold the Select Button then turn the Adjust Knob, you can change the feel of the e-stim sensations.
This is the best feature of the 2B, if it is too spikey for you then turn it anti-clockwise to smooth things out and the opposite is true if you want a little more 'bite'.
This feature allows you to use the 2B in so many nuanced ways. You can take hard and fast stimming sessions or stretch out a session with softer sensations to enable you to edge yourself for extended periods.
In my humble opinion, it is the failure to understand just how customisable the 2B is that often puts off new owners, leading to them to give up and sell on their machine. The 2B is incredibly versatile and an excellent investment, certainly one worth sticking with while you learn how to use it effectively.
Stimming with Audio
Audio is often a subject that raises tension in the e-stim community. The 2B handles audio differently from analogue devices, and this is not a bad thing. You can enjoy audio sessions with ease and here are some tips to get it right. Just select 'Audio Mode' and get ready to enjoy yourself.
Start by understanding the two distinct sets of controls you have, you can control the input source (whatever is generating the audion feed you are putting into the 2B), and you can control the output and feel of the 2B.
Don't push too much volume into the 2B. If you do, then you can drown out some of the nuances in sound files. Set your player to something along the lines of 65%-70%. This will require tweaking from stim file to stim file as they are all different, but it is a good start point.
When you adjust the input, you want to get the audio bars on the 2B to start moving and only take them up to about 3/4 of the way across. This will prevent over saturating the 2B, if the screen starts to flicker it is an indication that your input volume is too high, so if you see that then turn your feed down a bit.
The Adjust Knob on the 2B controls the audio response or feel of the output while the two Power Knobs control the strength of the outputs.
Start with the feel dialled down to about 10 as the default 50 often feels harsh when you start stimming. Then slowly turn up the power until you reach a comfortable setting then use the Adjust Knob to dial up the feel to between 20 and 40, which is where I find it works best. Remember to experiment though, as you will experience things differently to me or others in the stimming community.
Like all the other modes, in Stereo Mode, you need to take some time to learn the best settings for you.
Remember though if the output feels harsh then use that Adjust Knob to tweak the output to your likings and check your electrode to skin contact too.
E-Stim Inverse Proportionality Rule
If you are new to e-stim in general then it makes sense to learn about the E-Stim Inverse Proporionality Pain Rule. As it will make you think tiwce before pulling off/out an electrode with the control box switch on. Don't fry your fanny lips or singe your cock.
It's quite simple. The sensations that you feel are inversely proportional to the surface area of the electrodes in contact with your body. So the smaller the contact surface, the more intense the stimulation. Or in other words, you will get a painful zap if you remove an electrode while the power is switched on. It is highly recommended that you read up on the E-Stim Inverse Proporionality Pain Rule
"The sudden, forceful zing of having just the tip of the dildo at the entrance to my cunt caused me to leap 6 feet into the air and yowl like a strangled cat."

Conclusion
The 2B is the Rolls Royce or Ferarri of E-Stim Control Boxes and you can drive it like either car taking a sedentary journey or throwing yourself around tight corners with your foot to the floor.
It takes time and experimentation to get the most out of it. The time spent learning your own bodies response to it and how to maximise the settings to your way of getting off is well worth it though. I have lots of control boxes, but it is always the 2B I keep coming back to when I want to have sex with some electrons.

This is really helpful. I have had my 2b a few weeks and was disappointed at first. Now with practice I am learning how sensational it can be, repeatedly. I would love to see an Advanced Guide.I’m finding tri phase strimming especially ..er.. interesting. The placement of electrodes is crucial and individual, I think. Many thanks Joanne for helping me to new heights of pleasure.
