Hello again, Lawman here with another review of an estim toy. I realize this was soon after the first review I have ever done, but what else is a guy to do under stay at home orders?

I have had fun at home and will perhaps consider early retirement when we finally do get to go back to the office (lol).

"Finally, a toy made for the normal size man. Don't worry porn stars, it will stretch to about 1.75 inches, but I would not go any further."
Lawman

For those of you who did not read my review of the ElectraStim Viper, shame on you (just kidding). If you do not want to go and read it now because you are totally enthralled in reading this one, then I should explain a bit first.

I live in the U.S., and I am a somewhat older male that has had a stimming addiction for about 20 years now. I try to stay abreast of new products, happenings and goings-on within the community and feel that I am well-versed and knowledgeable with such things.

It is fun but can get to be an expensive hobby-hold that thought for a bit while I continue. I am always keeping an eye out for new and interesting estim related products. You will need to read my Electrastim Viper review to know what I think is the difference between "new" and "different" products, my opinion.

So that is out of the way and on with the review. Oh, once again, I must thank the marvellous Joanne for allowing me to do this and providing space on her site for my ramblings. What a remarkable and lovely person.

One day I was cruising down the ole information superhighway, and something caught my eye that made me pull off to the curb and have a look.

It was something I had not seen before. Could it be a "new" estim gadget?

The item that caught my eye was a product from Zeus Electro called the "Lightning Hood" (herein referred to as just "hood"). This is an electrode (I like saying that word "electrode", sounds ominous) that goes over the cock head (this is a sex toy review) and stimulates it.

I quickly zoomed over (no cops on the information superhighway so you can drive as fast as you want) to the Zeus site to have a look.

This product falls somewhere between "new" and "different" with a slight edge towards new. There is a manufacturer that makes a device that goes over the cockhead, but it's mono-pole (requires a second contact) and uses a condom to hold it in place.

I have a couple, and they are just unhandy to use.

Back to the review. This looked very interesting, and I was intrigued, especially with the $30 price point. I have looked at products by Zeus in the past, but nothing really reached out and grabbed me. Being honest, the quality of Zeus products seemed a bit suspect, and around the community, there is not much praise BUT, I had to have one.

The thought of lighting up the ole dick-head was just too much of a temptation. Now the problems start. I could not find one. They were on back-order everywhere I looked.

Timeout here; just like the Viper I purchased this myself and was not gifted it by Zeus for review. This could be a good thing. Remember, I said to hold on to that thought.

Estim gear is expensive. Most of the manufacturers state it's because of low volume, low demand and a niche market. I tend to disagree a bit; there are more stimmers out there than what the manufacturers think, my opinion. So, in the case of the Hood, Zeus either made a minimal production run to see how it would sell, and it sold out quickly, or they underestimated the size of the estim community, both of course again, my opinion.

Continuing down the information superhighway looking for this I stopped at eBay, my last resort. The man there stated they were on back-order but did provide a date. I told him I would take one and ship it when he gets it.

SHIPPING AND PACKAGING

I need to say that it was July of last year that I ordered this, and in early August it arrived. It was shipped via US Postal Service in a plain white wrapper that did not indicate the contents. I opened it, and my item was wrapped in a second plain white wrapper, nice.

So, if the outside wrapper was accidentally torn, I still had "protection." Once I got the item out, the box that contained it was clearly marked as to its contents.

Actually, the package looked kinda cool. Contained on the inside were an instruction sheet and the Hood sealed in a plastic bag together with a cable sealed in another plastic bag.

The packaging of the Lightning Hood from Zeus is rather nice

The cable had the 2.5mm plug designed to connect to a Zeus power box and 2mm pin connectors on the other end to connect to the Hood. To use it with a majority of the more popular boxes you need an adapter. This is a Mono cable (2 wire) and not a Stereo (3 wire) so be sure you get the correct adapter. I have several of these so no problem.

This is a bi-polar electrode meaning that it does not require a second contact in order to stimulate the cockhead. The contents of the box arrived in good condition. Moving on.

DESCRIPTION

The website, the box and the instruction say this is made of non-porous and phthalate-free silicone. This material is safe for the body and, as the instructions say, cleans with soap and water.

As far as size goes, Zeus states it is 2.35 inches in length, 1.6 inches in width. The width provided is in the round part where the head goes. Across the bottom at the two semi-round "wings" measuring in at 2.16 inches approximately.

The opening measures about 1.1 inches and the…wait a minute, did I just say 1.1 inch opening?

Finally, a toy made for the normal size man. Don't worry porn stars, it will stretch to about 1.75 inches, but I would not go any further.

Here are where the problems lie. The ribbed portion at the opening will stretch easily enough, but once you get past that it does not stretch so easily. I think it was made like this so that part goes behind the head and would hold it in place.

That's a good thought, but I think the porn stars would have difficulty getting this one on. You would have to be fully erect, use a lot of conductive jell, which you should anyway, and the twist and turn and you might get it on.

If not fully erect, good luck. I am seldom erect when I start a stim session; that's the whole idea. I had trouble getting this on flaccid, but I managed. Continuing on.

Since I am a curious sort, I used an ohm-meter to try to figure out how the current flowed. There seemed to be a bit of conductivity down both sides of the Hood no matter which of the connectors you measure from. I did notice at both sides where those half-circle wings are; there was no connectivity at all.

I surmised that the top connection powered the top half and vice-versa. Then I noticed something else a bit curious.

Down inside at the end was a disc sort of a piece that would compress. There was no connectivity to this, so I am not really sure as to its purpose. I guess it could provide snugness, just not sure. Moving on again.

FUNCTIONAL TEST

I was really looking forward to trying this out. As I stated previously, this was a bit unhandy to get on, but I put a bunch of conductive lube down in there and made it happen.

My ole PES power box was the closest one to me, so I got it out, connected everything turned the dials and was greatly underwhelmed at the sensations.

They were stingy and edge, not at all what I hoped for.

I fooled around with this a bit, but it never got any better. I thought eh, $30 so I am not out a lot of money.

In all fairness I really did not give it much of a chance, I think my expectations were a bit too high.

Sometime later I was messing with the MK312BT and got it out again. With just one channel it was much the same as with the PES BUT, when I added a loop at the base and in a tri-phase setup, it sprang to life.

I was not overwhelmed with the sensations, but it felt very nice and got the job done.

Now a few more months pass, and we are on stay at home. I get this Viper thing from ElectraStim and enjoyed it. Soooo I began to think what if I combine the base electrode with a head electrode.

Well, let me tell you! I decided I would keep the Hood and not toss it and that it has its uses after all. It is not my favorite, but it does get used.

Key Features

Key features:

Made from silicone and conductive silicone

Comes with cable with 2.5mm jack and 2x2mm pins

Requires electrogel or water-based lube

I would recommend it to:

Average sized guys

Anyone looking for an unusual penis play electrode

Anyone looking for a conductive bi-polar silicone electrode

I wouldn't recommend it to:

Anyone with a large glans

Final Thoughts

From my experimentation with this device, I think it needs a second electrode to really have nice sensations and have a hands-free orgasm.

For the cost, it is worth taking a chance on though.

I would love to hear for some of the bigger guys if they have tried this and how they got on with it.

Did they experience the same edgy unpleasant sensations? Was it difficult to get on? Did it stretch enough?

I think overall it's a great idea that possibly could be better with a bit of refinement.

It is its simplicity that makes it such a good choice for homemade DIY electrodes.

Conductive rubber is actually conductive silicone, and graphite powder is mixed in with the silicone. As it cures the graphite particles touch and allows a current to flow through the previously insulating silicone.

Initially created for the pharmaceutical industry as a way of reducing static in hoses it has found a kinkier use within the e-stim community.

Rough use and stretching reduce the life of conductive rubber as it breaks down the bonds between the graphite particles.

One way of mitigating this is to feed copper wire through the centre of your conductive rubber. This will prevent any hot spots and extend the life of your conductive rubber electrodes.

You can put copper wire inside your conductive rubber electrodes to help prevent hot spots and it will also make them stiffer

The diameter of the conductive rubber can change how it feels. Larger diameters feel softer while smaller diameters deliver sharper sensations. To smooth out the sensations from small diameter conductive rubber tubing, you can double up the loops to increase the contact area.

Conductive gel is essential when using conductive rubber. It helps to create a better contact between the rubber and your skin. This prevents hotspots and makes the sensations feel smoother.

So how do you use conductive rubber as an electrode?

The most common use by far is as a cock loop, I have reviewed two sets from mainstream manufacturers like E-Stim Systems and Electrastim. These loops are excellent quality, but you can, of course, make your own.

Typical diameters of conductive rubber are 4mm and 6mm. These take 2mm TENS plugs for the smaller diameter tubing. The 6mm tubing can come in different sized holes running through them so you can get some that take 2mm plugs while others take 4mm banana plugs.

When using conductive rubber as cock loops consider the nerve layout in the penis and insulate the top of the bottom loop.

I have written a very well received article about the best way to reach a hands-free orgasm by using conductive rubber cock loops on the penis. I also sell 3D printed cock loop insulators to help guys achieve the holy grail of e-stimming, the hands-free orgasm.

Insertable Conductive Rubber Electrodes

But if you place one in your anus, you should never use it vaginally. Otherwise, you risk a nasty infection there - not a good idea.

Again you need to use conductive electrogel or lube with insertable conductive rubber electrodes to aid their contact area with your skin.

Once again, I have designed some neat handles for this type of conductive rubber electrode. I call it my Didi electrode.

Nipple Play

It is possible to use short lengths of 4mm conductive rubber tubing to make bipolar nipple clamp electrodes. These are safe to use as long as the current just passes through the nipple from one side of the electrode to the other.

Never allow an e-stim current to pass through the chest nipple to nipple.

Electrode positions

My Electrode Position Guide shows lots of different ways to use conductive rubber in your stimming sessions for both men and women.

It even includes tips for tri-phase setups so definitely check it out.

Conclusion

Conductive rubber is incredibly versatile, cheap and easy to use. It is the ideal electrode material as long as you look after it.

If you have any unique ways that you use conductive rubber, I would love to hear about it in the comments section down below.

Delivery

I have never had a problem with any delivery from E-Stim Systems they use a reliable service and always pack orders very discreetly which is great.

Features

E-Stim Systems took over a year to perfect the blend of ingredients used in their new E-Stim Systems Conductive Electrogel time well spent I believe as it is a very nice lube indeed. It comes in a black 100ml tube with a flip off lid which when closed effectively caps the tube so no more leaks in your bedside drawer.

This is a water based lube and that is my favourite type of lube.

The first thing that I did when I received the Electrogel was to check out its ingredients to see if there was anything there that usually disagrees with my lady bits, it contains:

Aqua (Water)

Hydroxyethlcellulose - A thickening agent used in lots of lubes and hair gels, it is considered non toxic.

Citric Acid - Used to maintain a good pH balance.

Glycerin - This is used to keep the lube slippery but it can increase the chances of yeast infections in some women. It doesn't contain sugar but it can be converted to sugar in the vagina. I don't have a sensitivity to it though some may.

Potassion Sorbate - A preservative.

Sodium Benzoate - Another preservative.

So nothing nasty in there like parabens, the only ingredient on the watch list is the Glycerin, I don't have problems with it but I know people that have to be careful with it.

I must seem weird but the second thing I do with a new lube after checking out the ingredients is to sniff and taste it. The reason for this is it something smells terrible you can bet your bottom dollar that it won't be going anywhere near my lady bits and if it tastes bad then it will rule out its use if oral is to feature in my fun and games. I am happy to say that the Electrogel had no discernible smell or taste which means that oral is a go - yay for me.

The third thing I look at is the viscosity of a lube or in every day terms "how runny it is". I usually put a drop onto my finger or the back of my hand and hold it at different angles to see if it stays there or if it runs. Why would I do this you ask? Well if a lube is too runny it is a pain in the backside to apply where you want it, it runs everywhere and you end up wasting a lot of it or having to refresh it often.

I like thicker lubes as they stay where you want them to and in my experience they last longer too. Electrogel is deliciously thick, living up to its name and that's a very good thing, it runs very slowly and you can pinch it between your finger and thumb and draw it out as it is so thick. I can apply this gel to an insertable or dildo and it won't drip off onto the sheets and of course there is no waste.

All in all first impressions are very good indeed, nice packaging, minimal ingredients, no smell or taste and it's nice and thick. But of course it can only really be graded on its performance and so now for the interesting part of the review.

Use

For my first session with some Electrogel I opted to use my Flange bi-polar electrode and my Deviant bi-polar electrode.

I decided to warm up with the Flange before moving on to the Deviant. I applied a little of the Electrogel to my labia, finding it so easy to do so as it isn't runny. I got it exactly where I wanted it, a little certainly goes a long way. Next I connected the Flange to the cable from me Series 1 Power Box and then applied a small amount to the flange rubbing it all over it to get it slippery.

Insertion was really easy with the Electrogel as it is also an amazing lube which surprised me, as I initially thought that it may have been designed focussing on its conductive properties and I am happy to report that this isn't so, this is one fine lube as well.

Once fully in I switched on the power box on a low setting and relaxed enjoying the feelings it produced which can be described as that of butterflies stimulating my insides with their wing beats. I then moved things up a notch and really enjoyed myself. I rubbed some of the Electrogel into my clit as I enjoyed the feeling of the electrode fucking me in time with the pulses and it wasn't long before my first orgasm ripped through me.

After coming back to this planet I slid the flange out and dried my fingers before moving the leads over to the Deviant electrode. This is my favourite electrode by far, the texture is sublime and I will often just fuck myself with it and this is exactly what I did after applying some more Electrogel to it. I really enjoyed the texture as it slid in and out with ease, at no point did I need to top up the Electrogel as I found it to be quite long lasting. I finished off by using the Series 1 Power Box again to cause my pussy to spasm making it feel like the Deviant was moving back and forth on its own.

Fucking Machine Friendliness

Just to confirm my initial thoughts about it being a great lube as well as an e-stim conductive gel I set up the Shockspot and used it to give myself a third and final orgasm. I had it on a really fast setting and felt very little friction at all, I can see me using it again for Fucking Machine sessions. I need to get myself a small bi-polar electrode now so that I can use the Series 1 anally whilst getting fucked hard by my machines. But I digress, as a lube Electrogel is also excellent, as a conductive gel it is fantastic as well.

Performance

As a lube I really like it due to its consistency and long lasting properties, it is water based which makes cleaning up really easy and has minimal ingredients. As an conductive gel it is great, I had no hotspots when using it as it coats everything well and creates an excellent contact.

Don't use it anywhere near your self adhesive sticky pad type electrodes as it will cause them not to stick at all, just remember to wipe your fingers before attaching any of these.

I would love to try it out with a pinwheel or electro whiskers as if you rub it into your skin it hydrates it and makes your skin nice and soft so I imagine that skin play could be enhanced by it as well.

Key Features

Key features:

Water based formula

Excellent conductive properties

Nice and thick consistency

Moisturises

Excellent lube properties

Final Thoughts

I like Electrogel, in fact I like it a lot. I was surprised at just how good it is when used as a lube let alone when using it in electroplay. As it is easy to apply and not too messy it is also very cost effective as you won't be wasting a lot.

Recommendations

I would recommend Electrogel to:

Anyone looking for a conductive lubricant for e-stim play.

Anyone looking for a good water based lube.

I would'nt recommend it to anyone who:

Has an allergy to Glycerin.
